Minecraft by LEGO game rules, with the real characters and sound of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Play an ordinary survival world, except everything you smash bursts into studs, you can be a LEGO Batman minifigure, and villains' goons come out at night.
What you do
- Play as a LEGO Batman character. Press Esc and choose LEGO Character. The picker lists every playable character found in your copy of the game: Batman's many suits, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Catwoman, Gordon, Alfred and more.
- Fight goons. Henchmen of Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Falcone, the League of Shadows and other gangs spawn at night as hostile mobs. Boss characters never spawn.
- Smash for studs. Break a block or defeat a mob and it bursts into silver, gold, blue and purple studs. Ores, tougher mobs and goons pay more.
- Collect. Studs fly to you and add to a stud total that is saved with your world. They never clutter your inventory.
- Rebuild. Some smashes leave a hopping pile of bricks. Hold R next to it to rebuild it into a bridge, a climbing tower, a lamp post or a bounce pad, with a stud payout.
How LEGO Batman is in it
With LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight installed on Steam, BatCraft reads the game's own files from your copy while you play:
- Characters: the minifigure meshes, each character's textures, hats, hair, capes and faces.
- Sound: stud pickups, brick smashes, minifigure break-apart, build clicks and the build fanfare.
- Music: the game's soundtrack as the in-world background music.
Nothing from the game is in the download. If LEGO Batman isn't installed, BatCraft says so in chat, uses Minecraft's own sounds and music, and has no characters or goons. Studs and rebuilding work the same.
Good to know
- Single player, Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21.11. The download brings its own Minecraft setup (Prism Launcher with Fabric); you sign in to your Minecraft account once.
- Normal Minecraft carries on underneath: drops, crafting and mobs are unchanged.
- As a minifigure you are drawn without held items or armour, and while swimming, gliding or sleeping you are drawn as the Minecraft player. Faces don't animate.
- Studs and bricks are BatCraft's own simple models.
- The Rebuild key can be changed in Options > Controls.
