AM's Number Factory

HATE. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate numbers.

AM, the machine from I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, has taken over Nubby's Number Factory. You still play Nubby, pegs, items, shop and all, but nothing about the factory is friendly any more.

• AM is your supervisor. His emblem burns where Tony used to sit: blue when he is calm, red when you do well, sick green when you suffer. He speaks in his own voice: at the title, when a run starts, when you waste a shot, when you lose.
• Your five lives are the five survivors. Gorrister, Benny, Ellen, Nimdok and Ted hang in their cages above the board. Every launch sends one of them in, AM calls their name, and their cage goes dark. Ted is always the last one left.
• Every screen is a place inside AM. The pillar of hate behind the title, the five cages behind the menus, a different hell behind each zone, the memorial when you lose.
• The music is the I Have No Mouth score, performed on your PC from the game's own music data.
• The cartoon is drained to rust and shadow. Nubby is the one bright thing left alive in it.

Solo. The rules of Nubby are unchanged, so everything you know still works.

You need both games installed (Steam): Nubby's Number Factory and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. Nothing from either game is in this download. The first time you press Play, the launcher takes about half a minute to read the scenes, voices and music out of your copy of I Have No Mouth and to write a patched copy of your Nubby data next to the original, which is never changed.

Good to know:

• The mashup keeps its own save folder, so your real Nubby saves are never touched (your unlocks are copied in once).
• Steam achievements are off while AM is in charge.
• To play plain Nubby again, just start it from Steam as usual.
